Xenia are taking on Scafell Pike!

We asked Rachel from Xenia Property Group to answer a few questions on the teams Scafel Pike hike…

  1. What inspired your organisation to take on the challenge of climbing Scafell Pike for Manchester Mind?

Each year as a company we look to support a local based charity, with the aim to fundraise and take part in various challenges throughout the year. We recognise that spending time outdoors is a powerful way to clear the mind and recharge, and with many of our team passionate about walking, hiking, running and fitness, it felt only natural to take on an outdoor challenge together. Scafell Pike’s peak sits at 978 metres high, making it the highest mountain in England, which will be a huge challenge, but incredibly rewarding for all taking part. We were keen to support a charity focused on mental health, and with Manchester Mind right on our doorstep, it was the perfect choice. We see first-hand the dedication and impact of their work, supporting both young people and adults across the local community. We feel it’s important to raise awareness about the work they do and the services they offer, whilst donating as much money as we can to support them.

  1. Who from your organisation is taking part in the climb, and how did they get involved?

There are around 22 people taking part in the climb, which is a really great turnout! As mentioned, a lot of our staff members were actually asking for an event to be organised to take part in, which is what prompted us to look into the hike and arranging this.

  1. What part of the challenge are you most excited (or nervous) about?

I’m excited to take part in the hike, because I love the outdoors, in particularly, being in the Lake District. So to be able to do something you enjoy, whilst also raising money and creating more awareness for such a brilliant charity, is great.

I am nervous about the sheer challenge of it, because it will of course be demanding of your fitness and also mental strength. But everyone can take their own pace and it should be a really great day overall!

  1. What would you say to other organisations thinking about fundraising for Manchester Mind?

I would really encourage them to go ahead with supporting Manchester Mind and completing fundraising activities. Manchester Mind is a really great charity to support and they are making such a difference, with more people’s support, this can only increase. They have been on hand for any questions we have had, which has made fundraising and creating awareness even easier.

  1. What’s one item you must bring with you on the hike?

Definitely a good pair of hiking boots or hiking trainers, with a comfy pair of socks! The majority of the hike will be taking on huge inclines, with varying terrain, as well as a little river crossing.

A huge thank you from Manchester Mind for Xenia’s charity efforts, we cant wait to see some pictures from the top!
