Depending on your circumstances, there may be support or reductions available for your council tax bill.
Council Tax Support
If you are on a low income, you can make a claim for Council Tax Support. If your income is low enough, the council will make payments towards your council tax bill. You may still have to cover some of the bill yourself.
In some cases, you may be able to get your council tax reduced. If you live on your own, your council tax should be reduced by 25%. There are further deductions for some people with mental health conditions. If you are classed by the council as being Severely Mentally Impaired, you may be eligible for a full council tax exemption.
An application for council tax support can be made online to the council for those living in Manchester
