Put a face to the name - Meet our Trustees and Management Team. Leading Manchester Mind so we can continue to provide trusted, accessible mental health support for people across Manchester.

Sahib Patel

Chairman

I am a public service leader currently leading a £10 billion funding portfolio within the UK Civil Service, focused on delivering better outcomes for people and communities.

Born in India and shaped in Manchester, which I still call home, I bring experience across government, finance and technology. I have held roles at Amazon’s payments business and in investment banking advisory at Credit Suisse, advising family offices and corporates on capital and strategic decisions.

My commitment to mental health is personal, shaped by family experience of depression and loss, which underpins my focus on improving access to support.

Currently I:

  • chair Manchester Mind, providing strategic leadership to improve access to mental health support
  • serve on the advisory board of Manchester Metropolitan University, supporting education and opportunity, particularly for first generation students

I hold a Master’s in International Relations from Cambridge, an MBA from Manchester, and a Business IT degree from Manchester Met University.

Ruby Farrant

Trustee

‘Born in the south and raised in the north’, I am a mental health practitioner committed to making mental wellbeing as aspirational as physical health. Diagnosed with a rare liver disease at 13, I developed a deep understanding of the mind-body connection and the role of mindset in recovery. My lived experience, alongside advanced training in NLP, clinical hypnotherapy and coaching, informs my work supporting others to build resilience and navigate life’s challenges. I bring compassion, insight and a strong commitment to accessible mental health to my role as a Trustee at Manchester Mind.

With my background as an ex-athlete, I frequently spend time at the gym, playing padel or out on a walk getting coffee with my canine companion Brian, the spaniel, who occasionally serves as a therapy dog.

I am a Chartered Accountant, Licenced Insolvency Practitioner and hold a BA from The University of Manchester.

As the Treasurer for Manchester Mind, I work with the Senior Leadership team to ensure there is strong financial governance to deliver our long-term strategic goals.
