Thank you and safe travels Matt!

Matt Jarvis has been volunteering with Manchester Mind since 2015, spending his time looking after our allotment at Southern Cemetery. This week we say goodbye and a huge thank you to Matt as he sets off on his travels and to teach English abroad!

We can’t thank Matt enough for all of his hard work. From making a pond on his very first day, to weeding, growing vegetables and drinking lots of tea with the other volunteers, Matt’s contribution has been invaluable.

Matt got involved in the allotment after becoming interested in mental health, studying psychology at university. Since then Matt has been a great supporter of Manchester Mind, even completing the Great Manchester Run in May to raise a super £200, enabling us to buy much-needed gardening equipment.

Matt says that the best thing about volunteering at the allotment is that it feels more like a group of friends who look after a plot together.

Thank you so much Matt, we appreciate everything you’ve done for us and we wish you the best of luck for your new life abroad.

Manchester Mind is still here for anyone who is struggling with their mental health, but now we need your support…

We have recently launched our Covid19 emergency food response appeal.

We are hoping to raise £10,000 so we can buy staple ingredients and equipment to provide over 1600 meals per week to those experiencing severe food poverty.

Every donation will help make a real difference to the most vulnerable people in Manchester.
