Mindfulness and Relaxation for Menopause

This September we will be piloting a new, pioneering course aimed at peri-menopausal, and menopausal women.

In September 2020, Manchester Mind will be piloting a new, online pioneering course aimed at peri-menopausal, and menopausal women.

Mindfulness and relaxation for menopause will be a FREE 8 week course, focusing on using mindfulness and relaxation techniques to help manage the psychological impacts of this life transition. For many women, the physiological symptoms can be difficult to cope with, while others see a deterioration in mental health with increased levels of anxiety, or a drop in mood.

This course will allow women to support each other, while also teaching mindfulness techniques which are already proven to help stress, anxiety and low-mood. Instead of being a ‘pure’ mindfulness course, we will also include relaxation techniques specifically aimed at increasing capacity to manage anxiety. It is hoped that these techniques will also help women cope with the impact of the physiological symptoms as well.

The course will be 2 hour sessions after an initial 2.5 hour session. The course will run for 8 weeks in total.

Participants on the course will be expected to establish a daily 20 minute mindfulness/relaxation practice for the duration of the course.
