Good Mood Food meets Food For All

Food for All is our collection of food-related projects. This includes our community cafe, allotment and our Pay What You Can lunch sessions.

Through all of our food projects, we promote positive mental wellbeing, ensuring that stigma and discrimination are challenged.

We aim to tackle nutritional inequalities and the detrimental effect this can have on mental and physical wellbeing.

In 2015, Manchester Mind was the first organisation in the city to pioneer weekly Pay What You Can lunch sessions, and we are proud to say that since then our Food for All project has served over 50,000 free or heavily subsidised meals to vulnerable people in our community cafes.

All aspects of Food For All are generously supported by our team of volunteers. They have the opportunity to work in our cafe and help at the allotment, learning how to grow, cook and serve food, while also learning about how important good nutrition is to mental health.

Our other food project is Good Mood Food, the award-winning outside catering enterprise, which has been serving nutritious and vibrant food since 2005. 100% of profits are re-invested into Manchester Mind, enabling us to continue our vital work across the city, in particular supporting people facing food poverty.

Like so many other businesses, Good Mood Food has temporarily ceased trading, meaning the loss of a vital income for Manchester Mind, in particular to support Food for All.

Now that the team is unable to cater for corporate clients and large-scale events (like catering for grime artiste Skepta at last year’s Manchester International Festival), and the Food For All team are also unable to carry out their usual duties, their skills, energy and dedication are now focused on producing over 1500 meals per week for those experiencing severe food poverty.
