Bag-tastic News from the Bite Partnership!

What could be better than having delicious, seasonal, good value organic fruit and veg delivered to your work place or community venue? Well the Bite Veg Bag can do this and more, as it is also providing opportunities for people with mental health issues to be involved in growing, bagging and delivery of veg – so supporting people in their recovery.

The Veg bag was launched in the summer of 2011.  We source veg from local organic suppliers and from our own Bite Growing Projects (when we can). The veg bags come in 3 sizes and the fruit in 2.  Prices start at £3.00 per week. Sounds Good?

The Detail

The Veg Bags are dropped off for collection at venues every Wednesday afternoon. We have 6 drop off points at the moment but if there are at least 5 people at a place of work who would like to sign up for the bags then we can set up your place of work as a drop off point as well. At the moment veg can be collected at:

Zion Community Centre, Stretford Road, Hulme

North Manchester General Hospital

Chorlton House

High Elms

Hexagon Towers in North Manchester

And coming on line soon - The Mind Charity Shop on Wilmslow Road in Didsbury

The Bags come in various sizes and most people who join the scheme set up a monthly standing order. Or if you aren’t quite sure try it for a month – see if you like it. Anyone signing up for a regular order can expect 25% off their first month and a free Bite Jute Bag – so you can carry your veg home in style. The Veg Bag Scheme is also about promoting good mental health. Eating healthily is one way we can do this but another is by providing good quality activities that support people with mental health problems to gain skills, knowledge and confidence, which will support their recovery.
